Pinelands GC Scores and information for pace of play

Congratulations to Butch Brees and Paul Zambito for Low Gross of 88 and to Warren Reintzel for a Low Net of 75. The outing was the best of times, (The weather was great), and the worst of times, (a lot of scores over a 100 and the least amount of PARs and Birdies since we started playing this year). High scores hinders the pace of play, which I do not know how to fix, if there is a fix please let me know. I would recommend that if a group is about two holes behind the group in front of them, everyone in that group Pick up and skip a hole, then score it with the score you got on the last hole of the same par value. It is not fair, nor fun playing a four and a half or five hour round to the groups behind you. We all have an occasional bad hole or two but when they multiply through out the round, Pick up and move on. I’m as guilty as anyone for some slow play. In each group someone must take the lead and speak up to that someone or the entire group when you are getting too far behind the group in front of them. I am hoping that today is the exception since the course did not play well for some reason or other. We do have players with high handicap and this is not to put them down for we are out to have fun no matter how we play, enjoy the camaraderie of our follow players. When I do the schedule I try to place two low handicap players with two high Handicap players. The intent is that everyone in the group works together, seeing where each players ball is hit and helping to look for lost or hidden balls.
