Congratulations
to Hank Zaleski for Low Gross of 89 and Low Net of 73. When you read my
description of the course you will understand it was not an easy feat.
What
a great day we had yesterday at The Links. The weather was beautiful, super
high grass in the rough making golf balls behave like gofers hiding deep in the
ground, woods that allowed your golf balls to travel to sights unseen, never to
be found again, branches from trees hanging over the fairway which managed to
attract any ball flying near them, and greens that had a different speeds from
hole to hole. We really didn't have anything to complain about other then
most scores were higher than normal and pars and birdies lower then past weeks,
and a few comments from individuals swearing to give up golf, only to return
for more punishment next week. I thought the food and service was excellent at
the club house which was definitely an improvement.
Some
of you may not know, The Links only charged us thirty-five dollars, the normal
fee is thirty-eight dollars for seniors, which the other group had to pay that
was teeing off at the same time. They also comped me the greens fees. Since I
am not the only one doing the golf organizing, Fran DuVernois and John Mapes do
the year scheduling and Tom Rayser updates the Handicaps I thought it is only
right that I donate the $35.00 to the 65 Club which helps to off set the
fees for trophies, etc., presented at the May Luncheon.
There
had been talk of changing non-club member a participation fee for the club activities
such as bridge, golf, etc. It was decided to just ask non members for a
donation to the 65 Club without any specific amount. It is not mandatory
to contribute, only requested. No one will be tracking who or who do not
donate, nor the amount given by an individual. The donation is not tax
deductible under our tax status.
If
you wish to donate, the check can be make out to "Haddonfield 65
Club," noting in the memo section "Golf Donation".
Or
you may just put a donation in a sealed enveloped with Walt Baker's name on the
front and give it to me on golf day.
Donations
may be Mailed to:
