The Links GC - Scores

Philadelphia set a record today of 95 degrees. For those who decided not to play, or those who played nine holes due to the heat, good decision on your part, you know your own limitation. The course was somewhat difficult and the heat did have a major effect on most players as can be seen by the scores. Congratulations to Butch Brees for scoring a Low Gross of 85 and to four players who scored a Low net of 76, Tom Worrell, Ed Rouh, Bill Rommelman, and Mike Underwood.

 

Next week is the 65 Club Golf Master’s Tournament at Golden Pheasant. It will be a shotgun start. The winners of Low Gross and Low Net will receive Trophies at the 65 Club Spring Luncheon. Everyone one who has played during the season and has a handicap is eligible to play in the tournament. There are some basic rule for the Tournament. (1) No Breakfast Ball, (2) No Mulligans, (3) No Give-me, unless it is just a tap in where the ball is basically resting against the cup. If you wish to play and not compete in the tournament, you need to let me know before play. Those not competing may take a breakfast ball, a mulligan and Give-me.

Pinelands Scores

We had 20 players at Pinelands enduring high temperatures. The owner of Pinelands was so impressed by the number of players showing up and the age of our older members that he gave us lunch with a drink, either a soft drink or Beer, for a total $2.50. 

Hopefully we have seen the last honest day of golf for the season. It is hard to believe that we only have 10 more outing left for the season, and thinking that in November we will be wishing that we did not have to ware so many layers of clothes.

Everyone made it through playing either nine or eighteen holes. It is so great to live in South Jersey and play golf.

Congratulations to Fran DuVernois and Chris Underwood for a Low Gross of 86, and again to Fran for a Low Net of 71.

Next week we are at the Links, (Kings Grant), and they normally give us a shotgun start on the back nine. They also have a good bar and lunch available.

Golden Pheasant Scores & Note on NO SHOW

Golden Pheasant had lots of rain last night, which made the course Cart Path Only. My Fit-Bit had me walking close to 10,000 steps, so yes we did get a lot of walking in. The first fairway had a few water hole which required a ball retriever to bring the ball back into play. No penalty stroke. Even with the condition of the course being wet, most players had a decent score. 

Congratulations to Divid Restrepo for a Low Gross of 81, and to Doug Hambry for a Low Net of 62, well done. 

Just a reminder, if you are unable to play after signing up to do so, please e-mail, text or call letting me know that you cannot play. I leave my cell phone out of my golf bag up to five minutes before the first tee time. I understand that some time there are emergencies that prevents you from calling, that is why I do not get too upset when someone does not show and do not call.
